Yellowcard Rocked!!!
I am a fan of Yellowcard, so my boyfriend and I arrived late to the venue purposely. Every time I see them, the lead singer never fails to disappoint, and she has an amazing vocal ability that should not be overlooked. They played all their "popular" songs, and had most of the teeny boppers on their feet. My boyfriend and I were both excited to see Hey Monday, as we have been waiting for years to do so. They were incredible, I am glad to see them back on the circuit and playing some old and new songs, keeping the crowd entertained. My favorite songs are Fighting and Five Becomes Four, but they only played Five Becomes Four at my show. I also wish their set would have been longer, maybe 3-5 more songs and that LP could have performed a kick-a$$ drum solo which I have been waiting to witness for years at a live venue. All in all, a stellar performance from Hey Monday. The Producers - Theatrical Production has been on my playlist since they started. I have always loved them, and was especially impressed when I heard their "Painting Flowers" contribution to the Almost Alice compilation album project. Unfortunately, from where I was standing in Starland Ballroom I had a perfect view to a guy that plays guitar licks behind the scenes for the majority of the songs. However, I know they don't play that song live, so I wasn't really looking forward to their performance for that reason. The lead singer and guitarist were comical, which was entertaining enough to keep my interest. They played a slew of familiar songs, but I guess I'm getting old and more interested in the "rock and roll" aspect of music. The younger crowd screaming and especially one tween behind me screaming, or shall I say screeching in my ear every three minutes was enough to ruin this set. I left early, and did not see the conclusion of the evening. But seeing Hey Monday rock their little butts off made it all worth it.
